Cooperative field trial Speedfol™ on cotton (Gossypium spp.)
Objetive: To evaluate the Speedfol™ B SP, efficiency and efficacy in relation to other polymer products applied to increase leaf Boron absorption.
Crop: Cotton (Gossypium spp.).
Location: UGA Bowen Farm, Georgia, USA. Under dry land system, without Irrigation.
Date: Planted at early June, 2004.
Treatments: B foliar applications were made according to soil analysis performed by the Georgia University, USA. Treatments were applied through the central pivot irrigation system:
• Foliar treatment applications were carried out during July 28, 2004.
• Treatment samples were taken during August 09, 2004.
• Harvesting was mechanized during August and yield was measured, assuming a net production of 40%.
RESULTS:
• It was demonstrated that Speedfol™ B SP produced the highest B levels in cotton leaves at the recommended dose of 0.56 kg B/ha.
• The lowest Speedfol™ B SP dose at 0.28 kg B/ha was not statistically different (P < 0.05), in terms of leaf B levels comparing to DSO at 0.56 kg B/ha. This means that 50% of the Speedfol™ B SP dose is as efficient as a complete dose of DSO.
• The B level in the cotton leaf after one or several foliar applications of the products and doses (0.56 y 0.28 kg B/ha) is shown the following table:
