The representatives from Minsur, which produces metallic minerals, toured the potassium nitrate production facility, participated in various Lean activities and learned about the results of applying this methodology at SQM.

The representatives of a Peruvian mining company learned about the Lean methodology, which is called M1 at SQM, and looked at the feasibility of implementing it at its Puno, Palca and Pisco mining centers, the sites of its main operations.

Minsur executives observed operations at Coya Sur, met with workers, exchanged experiences related to the transition process and looked at the changes that the implementation of M1 has generated. They also saw how workers are empowered and committed to dialogues meant to connect performance to results through performance indicators.

The visit ended with a meeting with Operations Manager Cristian Pizarro in the Coya Sur Lean Room. Pizarro exchanged ideas with the visitors, answered questions and talked about his experience as a Lean Leader and the elements that have made Coya Sur a point of reference in the implementation of this methodology.

This latest international visit is further confirmation that Coya Sur is moving in the right direction and is an example to follow for those who believe that Lean (M1) is the path to excellence.
