In Tocopilla, important Educational Transfer Agreement signed for children from Tarapacá and Antofagasta

A new version of the Educational Transfer Program was launched at the Ardillita Preschool in Tocopilla, led by JUNJI, SQM and Fundación Educacional Choshuenco, an initiative that seeks to accompany schools in both regions in the process of continuous improvement and reflection on strategies for working with families.

This educational transfer is carried out through Fundación Choshuenco’s reflective process to dialogue about the meanings, operation and strategies developed by its Family Centers, with the experiences that the participating schools deploy from their particular realities (PEI, seal and others), focusing on the Family and Community dimensions; the process concludes by installing a family center in each school.

“Initial and formative education is a fundamental part of our community work in the territories where we are present, which is why we are very pleased with this alliance that brings together the efforts of the state, through JUNJI, Fundación Choshuenco and SQM, contributing directly to the quality of education of children in the regions of Antofagasta and Tarapacá,” commented SQM’s Director of Communities and Public Affairs for SQM’s Nitrate and Iodine businesses.

It should be noted that this initiative includes implementing a physical space to welcome families, where different strategies are deployed to enhance parenting skills and the personal development of parents and guardians.

“We are happy to provide this type of space for the families of our preschools, who are the pillar of early childhood education, since they are the first educator, then come the educational units and in third place are the spaces where we are today, therefore, today we are realizing this desire for a family center so that the community can participate, resolve concerns and have a support network,” explained Alejandro Rodriguez, regional director (s) of the National Board of Preschools of Antofagasta.

José Manuel Jaramillo, executive director of Fundación Educacional Choshuenco, said: “Today we signed and launched the educational transfer program for the regions of Tarapacá and Antofagasta, an instance financed in this case by SQM, which seeks to install Family Centers in more than 10 educational centers in both regions, which will allow fathers and mothers of children to acquire greater and better parenting skills to exercise their role as primary educators. There is a fundamental and key component, which is precisely to ensure that the family is part of it and plays its role as the first educators.”

It is important to note that this milestone is just one of many occasions where SQM is present in the territories near its operations, strengthening its commitment to promoting quality education in northern Chile. All of these efforts are in line with its Sustainability Plan aimed at the sustainable development of the communities with which it engages.
