The collaboration agreement signed by SQM and the Chilean Safety Association (Asociación Chilena de Seguridad, ACHS) formalizes their commitment to continue to develop a culture that makes safety the mining company’s main value.

SQM and ACHS signed an agreement entitled “2019-2020 Occupational Hazard Prevention Collaboration Plan,” which outlines a series of activities designed to support occupational health and safety management efforts implemented by the Office of the Potassium and Lithium Operations Senior Vice President.

The plan includes specific activities focused on risk management within the Company, ensuring that employees’ needs are met; advising SQM on occupational health and hygiene activities; achieving certification for Joint Committees on Hygiene and Health (CPHS in Spanish) at various levels; collaborating on worker training in the area of prevention; recognizing achievements in these areas; and implementing “Strategic Safety” strategies in the organization.

After signing the rubric that establishes joint efforts by the two institutions, representatives of the Salt Flat Production office and ACHS got to work immediately, beginning with a tour of the work site.
