SQM to Participate in Fidelmov Virtual 2020, the Premier Electromobility Event in Chile

27/Oct/2020

The second version of the International Electromobility Trade Fair will be held on a virtual platform on October 28th and 29th due to public health reasons. The event’s keynote speaker will be Alberto Longo, the creator of Formula E, who will talk about the rich technological development made possible by this sport.

It is a fact that electromobility is here to stay in Chile. And we are privileged to have an international venue where we can analyze how this technology has developed and learn more about its latest advances. This venue is Fidelmov Virtual, the second version of the International Electromobility Fair, which this year is offering a 100% online immersive experience on October 28th and 29th. Organized by the Recyclápolis Foundation and sponsored by SQM, the event will teach attendees about the technology and its advantages related to sustainability and enhancing people’s quality of life.

The event’s keynote speaker will be Alberto Longo, the creator of Formula E, who will talk about the different advances in electric driving since the first time this modern adaptation of car racing was held. In addition, Longo will unveil the main innovations that will be seen at the next edition of the race in Santiago in early January.

Fernando Nilo, president of the Recyclápolis Foundation and the organizer of the event, expressed enthusiasm for the event, highlighting how it brings together multiple interests around electromobility and positively impacts the environment. “Like the previous fair, the main speakers, companies and developers behind electromobility will be present at Fidelmov, demonstrating the widespread growth of interest in this technology in Chile. We are sure it will be a success, especially with the sustainable staging we hope to wow our digital visitors with,” commented the executive.

The Energy Undersecretary, Francisco López, had a similar vision at the launch of Fidelmov Virtual. “From 2018 until now the number of electric vehicles on our streets has risen practically sevenfold. We are on a good path to achieving the goal we set at the beginning of this administration of increasing it tenfold. Similarly, we see how the coverage of charging stations and infrastructure has progressed gradually around the country and we already have quite an important network,” remarked López.

The 2020 edition will be sponsored by leading industry brands such as SQM, Copec Voltex, Maxus, Cerro Dominador, Sura, Universidad Federico Santa María, Estudio lIve and others, as well as think thanks and public and private-sector organizations like the Energy Efficiency Agency and the Energy, Transportation, Environment and Economy ministries, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and several other important domestic and international players.

The event will feature diverse talks and public-access conferences, which will be the precursor to the Electromobility Development Award, an accolade given to those institutions that have developed initiatives to encourage mass use and adoption of this technology. “In Chile several very important electromobility initiatives have been developed that facilitate processes and improve people’s quality of life. We want to recognize this group and highlight their contribution to the country,” specified Nilo.

The event is free to the public and all individuals registered at www.fidelmov.cl will participate in a drawing for an electric bike.
